Still gorgeous weather with a few days of a brutal wind down the lake… but it seemed to help some of the members catch!
Viney caught the only 40+ of the week
Nick caught another 30+
Dave had a mirror
New member this year and current Lake holder Dave Williamson had another decent weekends angling at the lake this trip. Fishing swim 17 was never going to be easy as the fish were showing in numbers along the car park bank. He obviously worked extremely hard and during the course of the two days he managed to pick off three carp, on the scales they proved to be 21lb’s, 25lb’s and 26lb’s. No monsters but a fine result from an unfancied part of the lake. Good angling fella 🙂
Well, new member Dave Williamson has certainly not wasted time in getting to grips with the lake and it’s inhabitants. Last week saw him move from swim 29 into 12 to catch fish. This weekend he tried once again in swim 29 in the hope of picking up one of the lakes larger residents. During his first 24 hrs on the lake he had caught a steady run of twenty pound fish, weighing in at 22lb’s, 25lb’s and topped by a 27lber. Not a bad start and with 24 hours to go it was suddenly about to get much better. Woken at 6’45 am on Monday morning by a screaming delkim, Dave dived out of bed and to his rods. A fish had taken him off on a long initial charge, and Dave knew straight away it was a decent fish. After a good battle, he finally won the day and a fantastic looking mirro was drawn very carefully over the netcord. It wasnt until Dave got the fish onto the bank and into a sling that he realised just how big it was, when the neelde spun round past the 40lb mark, there was only one thing to do……. Phone Paul.
Paul arrived with the lake scales, and his trusty camera, and the fish was confirmed at a new lake record weight of 43’10 oz’s This is the same fish that Nick Martin broke the lake record with only three weeks ago at a weight of 41’10 oz’s so it has beefed up by 2lbs in that short time.
Many many congratulations Dave, a cracking fish mate.
43'10 oz's and New Lake Record
Dave Williamson arrived at the lake on Saturday in the hope of a fish or two. He set up in swim 29 for his first night. Despite others having had great success from this swim, it does seem to have shut up shop for the last week or two. The following day Dave decided on a move and after a wander round dropped his unhooking mat into swim 12. Conditions looked reasonable for a bite in this area, and this was to be confirmed as the next 24 hrs progressed. Dave was to finish up with two carp and one dropped. He managed a 15’4 oz Common, and a 26’10 oz mirror and was quite pleased to have finally found the fish, and to have saved the blank with a very good move.
New syndicate member Dave Williamson managed to bag one of the frustratingly elusive Grenville carp in the last couple of nights. He started off in swim 20 and spent his second night further down the bank in 15.
Having not spoken to Dave I am not sure exactly where or when he had the fish, but have it he did. A 21’8 oz mirror.
Well done Dave, hopefully your first of many. 🙂
