New Sesason 2016 Opening Day

July 9th, 2016 Comments off

Hello Everyone!…..Hope this post finds you all well :-)

For those of you that don’t already know the lake will re-open for the new 2016 season on Friday 15th July. As usual the gate will open at 10am and the draw for swims at 12pm, due to time and other commitments we are not doing a BBQ this year so you will be able to fish immediately after the draw!….Anyone that would like to borrow the BBQ please just let us know, you are more than welcome.

Its been a busy closed season for Paul, along with the usual huge grass and strimming maintenance, he has been making some changes to the swim platforms by way of very smart Astroturf…which not only looks great but is super practical and much better for when landing carp!

To see the lake looking as beautiful as it does makes all the hard work worthwhile, and we very much look forward to sharing it all with you on the 15th and see Grenvilles really come alive, the fish that were caught during the closed season were stunning and immaculate and it will be fantastic to see even more of them grace our banks.

If anyone would like bait please let us know by Wednesday 13th.

Until then we wish you all well and look forward to seeing you on the 15th, let the brilliant new season begin!

Very sorry but the lake will not re open until Monday as there is still 9 inches of water in certain swims and this needs to be gone, we must ensure all swims are completely safe before anyone can fish, there are also some minor repairs to be done as well.
Once again we apologise for any inconvenience and disappointment, we feel the same
We wish you all a lovely weekend and very much look forward to seeing you next week

Just to let you know we hope to open on Thursday and that Paul will make the decision on Wednesday, there is a few inches of water still to go but we are nearly there!!
Can’t wait to get back to normal and see everyone enjoying their fishing, making bait tidying up and seeing Grenville’s return to its full glory,
Best wishes to you all, see you in a few days!

lake update

March 25th, 2016 Comments off

Latest update on the lake.
Paul with the help of John and David has fitted a two foot pipe out of the lake to release more water quickly, this is helping but there is still a way to go, he is also trying to get to the flap in the lake to open it which will really be a massive help in reducing the water levels.
At this stage we still do not know when we will be open and Easter is looking doubtful, we can only hope and do what we can when the water allows us to.
Please keep checking for updates or contact Paul before you make your journey.
We do really appreciate all of your patience, we are so frustrated and want the lake to be open again for all to enjoy and see our beautiful babies on the bank.
Please bear with us we are doing all that we can,
Many thanks

Update on the lake, the water is on its way out!…Paul thinks we are looking at another 2 weeks but could be sooner, as the volume decreases the levels will go down much faster, as soon as the road is fully accessible and you can get to the swims we will re-open.
Thank you for your patience and understanding and we look forward to seeing you all very soon…

Information for the new season

February 8th, 2016 Comments off

Subs are now due and must be paid before the 14th March. Everyone needs to speak to Paul. If anyone is leaving please let us know before the end of Feb. It is also with a heavy heart that some members will not be asked to re-join Grenville’s as some people do not agree with our managment skills and think they can run things better?! (i know you may think im biased but what my dad has created and up keeps every single day of the year is bloody amazing!) We wish everyone well on whichever path is taken.

Fish Weights 2015/16 Season

January 11th, 2016 Comments off
Fish Weights 2015/16 Season
2015 has drawn to a close and the fish stats so far for this season are summarised below. The stats take us to the end of December.
New 50’s = 2
New 40’s = 5
New 30’s = 21
Existing 30’s breaking the 35lb+ barrier = 9
New 35lb+ (previously not recorded above 30lb) = 2
Some interesting facts:
The two new 50’s were both last caught in June 2014 with the first one showing a growth of 6lb 2oz in 15 months and the second 9lb 2oz in 18 months. Interestingly there are 25 fish on the wall recorded above 37lb that have not been caught since 2014, so there could be many more big surprises to come when these fish next visit the bank.
The new 40’s faired similarly with growth rates up to 7lb 3oz in 12 months being the best. Green 30 was predicted to reach 40lbs, even though it was caught at 34lb in July, it nudged over 40lbs by November. This fish is a big spawner and tends to loose large amounts of weight, but it is also a big feeder being the most frequently caught fish on the 35lb+ wall, visiting the banks 3-5 times a year.
Of the 35lb+ fish there are two fish that have not previously been recorded above 30lb, we have no capture details and consequently no growth statistics. These fish came in at 35lb 6oz and 36lb 8oz!
The 21 new 30’s brings the total number of recorded different 30lb+ fish in Grenville to 285. Hopefully over the remaining part of the season we should see this figure climb up to the 300 mark.
The first half of this season has seen 143 carp over 30lb caught and this has been represented by 100 different fish and 43 re-captures. Although catch rates this season have been lower than some previous seasons, it can be seen that the quality and size of the fish have improved enormously and are testament to the quality of the fishery.
Lets hope 2016 is even more successful with many more surprises for some lucky anglers.
